Thing 23

My mind is currently overwhelmed with the abundance of information available in technology that could be used in the classroom. I am still struggling with how to incorporate technology that is age appropriate and valuable to the student learning. I want to use technology to enrich their learnming not just for the sake of using technology. I struggle with the best way to incorporate technology and I feel that if I had a projector in my room instead of the small tv screen to project the computer images to it would be more worthwhile for the students. I think some of the imagaes may be to small for students to properly see what it is I am trying to present with the current lack of technology at my school. This may just be my current perception and that may change the more accustom I get to using technology and what is available.

Thing 22

I just enrolled in an online reading comprehension course. There was one on guided reading that look good but there were costs associated with it. I think it's a great idea. Again just for me finding the time has been the issue. I have time now because we are isolated at home awaiting H1N1 results on my daughter so I have time. She doesn't like me being on the computer though.

optional thing

As you can see from viewing my blog, I have uploaded many youtube videos to my site. I have also uploaded some videos to my facebook which is a very easy way to upload videos just by clicking on the link.

Thing 21

I have embedded many youtube videos on to my blog that are especially useful in social studies. We are now teaching Michigan history in third grade and I have found many useful and many not so useful youtube videos. In particular I found many on logging, mining, and the potawantomi Indians. The students in my class get very excited just at the prospect of a youtube video, the idea of using it in the classroom appeals to them. I have encountered many problems of having it blocked but I was able to have our technology person temporarily unblock it on my computer. It is very nice to know that it can still be utilized if it is blocked by going through sites suck as keepvid.com.

Thing 20 b

I think students would enjoy listening to and creating Yodio at home or at school. I am not sure of the uses for third grade, we are a bit more limited at this age level. I do believe that 5-? could use this program much more freely and with greater benefits than lower elementary students. I do believe third grade would find it fun to use and listen to in a variety of subject areas. The practicality of it is another question altogether.
